Do you ever stay in your 'jammas till noon? I did, yesterday. Actually - I find myself taking this luxury more often. I even did this knowing I would have a friend come over. There was a time when I would have been horrified by this thought. When Miles and I chose for our household to be a one income family my mind and body stayed in work mode for far longer. I would always be dressed by an early hour in the morning. I would have my makeup on, the dishes done and a list made for the rest of the day's expectations.
It took me quite a while to get the idea of 'being my own boss' into my head and heart. For a great deal of time I would still get up and do all these things. When I did allow myself to let go, I felt guilty, like a child caught with my hand in the cookie jar.
I also remember when I started art lessons (Miles bought watercolor lessons for my birthday one year - a gift that has given back in so many ways) I can recall one day in particular, during a wonderfully successful painting session, thinking that while I was enjoying myself immensely that (what seemed like) the rest of the world was 'out there' working. I wondered how I could deserve this. Funny, but some of these very things that I felt were like I was playing, were actually skill builders which would later on translate into area which would create value in our marriage and finances.
Now, you might find me any day, in my jammies, being creative - but I'm at rest that I'm not unproductive. I'm working away and though I can't see the direct fruits of my labour each time I KNOW I'm doing a valuable thing by being faithful and trusting in my REAL boss: God. I feel such a peace in the knowledge that He has blessed our household in our decision for me to stay at home.
Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life—in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
I took a huge bag of clothes to the thrift store yesterday. It felt good. It felt like a weight off my chest - well I guess all the sweaters I gave away really were! I've begun the sorting process for our move. I was a good girl and only brought one item home. Miles brought the bag for me as it was heavy. After he dropped me off I snuck to the local grocery store and bought him a box of Skinny Cow ice cream bars. They are not ice cream at all, but a low fat version of one - and an amazing treat when one is watching one's waistline. They are way 'spensive - you won't go giving these to your 3 year old, but they are worth every penny to a starving dieter.
You all have a wonderful day!

Oooh! Love these - so cute & sparkly! Thank you for sharing! :-)
ReplyDeleteI always have to giggle when some one asks about staying in their pj's part of the day. I live in mine most days!
ReplyDeleteI have ones I wear to bed, then during the day I switch to what I call lounging clothes. I am a SAHM of three and we home school at present. We only have one vehicle and DH gets that for work. We live in the country and as we just moved here don't know anyone...so who's gonna come to the door? Nobody! So pj's are my daily staple for clothing!
I am trying to cut down on my downloads as I have so much already, but these were just way too cool. Love them! Thank you so much for your gift!!

ReplyDeleteCute cute buttons, both today and yesterday. Thank you! And yes, I used to stay in my jammies for a long time, sometimes all day. It is rare for me to have one of those days anymore, though, since I have gone back to work. Even though I work from home, I still have to get dressed to take my son to daycare. I miss all-day jammie days!

Thanks for the darling buttons. And to answer your question, I didn't get dressed 'til 1pm today!! I was warm and comfy and the thought of getting all wet in the shower was just too much. If I didn't have to walk to the bus stop to get Ethan in half an hour, I probably would STILL be in my jammies!
ReplyDeletehi! I have put my toes in the waters of blogs...big step for this ol' lady learning lots of new tricks...would like to invite you to view.
ReplyDeleteHi Barb...SKINNY COWS!!! YUM!! They are my absolute favorites! Do you get the ice cream sandwiches in your store? If so try the Skinny Cow Caramel ice cream sandwichs they are very good. The Skinny Cow Chocolate with vanilla ice cream sandwiches are still my favorite....Yummy! Now I am hungry! *sigh* Thanks so much for the gorgeous little buttons! I am hoping for some scrapping time tonight..wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the buttons Barb. I enjoy reading your blog and dh sometimes reads it too. Good luck with your packing for the move. On the days I don't work (Monday & Tuesday) I quite often don't get dressed at all!
ReplyDeleteLove these heart buttons! I downloaded yesterday's too. Both sets are so pretty! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteHi friend - love those cute heart buttons. They seem so Valentinesy. The Etch A Sketch joke made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteIt took all day but I finally blogged 5 Weird Things. I didn't tag anyone back though cuz you're the only blogger I really know. It was fun to come up with today.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Barb, for the darling buttons.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the really cute valentine's buttons.
ReplyDeleteHi there neighbour! I do the lounge thing as well with my two daughters age 3 and 1. But many times I feel guilty and lately have been getting us dressed by 9:00 am. My honey works away all week he's a long haul truck driver and he never see's his pj's until the weekend poor guy!
ReplyDeleteI love the latest buttons they are tooo cute, I have given up trying to download but wanted to say thanks for being their I love stopping in to catch up on your daily life. Take care.
Aren't pajama days great? My family laughs at me because if I don't have to leave the house, I'll shower and put on clean pj's. To me, they're no different than the sweats my DH puts on when he gets home from work and I think they're actually more comfortable.
ReplyDeleteHeading out this week-end to scrap with friends and we've already discussed staying in pj's most of the week-end. Makes packing easier because we can get away with one "real" outfit to wear when we go out to the scrapbook stores and to eat. Then spend the rest of the time in comfortable pajamas :)
It is so nice to visit your blog & read all the inspirational message along with your love of God and your dh. I am definitely a pj person any time of the day. It is so relaxing & glad that I am in such wonderful company. I dl those pretty heart buttons. TFS.
ReplyDeleteThank you for these cute buttons!
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha! The etch-a-sketch thing is hilarious.
