Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes!

SSW-Feb-24-16---Barb-Derksen

Well – since it is “Anything Goes” for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday I went wild!

I embossed the Stampin’ Up florals using white embossing powder and then I was a little crazy with  Tim Holtz distress inks.  I wanted to use up a piece of white corregated cardboard from a cookie package so I ran some of these pearl chain beads along it.  They are hard to see in this photo, but they are dark with pearly shades of mauve, pink and green.   The butterfly is a die cut (Memory Box)  from dark glitter paper, highlighted with Wink of Stella. The “I am so Sorry” Sentiment is Penny Black

Hope your time here has entertained!

Tuesday Morning Sketches #340 Card

TMS340-Barb-Derksen-1

This is my take on the Tuesday Morning Sketches #340 Challenge!  I was working from the following:

I think I took some creative licence with the sketch by adding the pretty gems as the “scalloped” edge and I have two sentiments – but one for certain is on the strip.

TMS340-Barb-Derksen-2

The floral DP is a scrap from something, the Happy Birthday DP is Confetti – Buttercream Bobby.  I used a fine tipped felt to outline the “Happy Birthday” on it.  The larger stamp is My Favorite Things.  I keep using these little dollar store gems on my projects, they are so versatile.  I added some real sewing machien stitching and wound it all up with a sweet little bow using crochet cotton.

So happy you stopped by!

Just Add Ink #299 Inspiration Card

Such pretty colors in the inspiration picture today -

Just Add Ink # 299

And even though spring is barely beginning (unless the ides of March come upon us and bring us back to winterish weather) - this image still has the power to make me feel all warm, sitting in the shade of a tree and sipping on something sweet and tart and watermelony too.  My imagination did its best to capture this feel:

JAI-299---Barb-Derksen-1

Supplies:

Designer Paper - Crate Paper

Blooms - Die-Namics

Distress Inks - Tim Holtz

JAI-299---Barb-Derksen-2

I love these pretty little gems I picked up at the dollar store - I have them in just about every soft pastel pearlescent shade, and I seem to be able to use them for many projects.

I hope you've been inspired today!

Color Throwdown #380

I got quite a bit of gray in my card, I think…

Designer Paper – Junkitz

Stamp – Inkadinkadoo (blossom)

Stamp – Hero Arts  (Thinking of You)

I think keeping to the three tones makes it very easy to make an effective and eye-catching card.

I’ll be hopping over to see you too – I reply to all comments!

Addicted to Stamps 181 challenge “Anything Goes”

Ha HO!

Addicted to Stams and More #181

I had a great giggle when I saw the “Anything Goes” because I’ve been hoarding a bit of DP that my Sister Nina bought (one for each of us) this past summer, and it keeps cropping up so I knew I had to turn it into something so it does not continue to haunt.  As it turns out, someone I know has just had a bathroom reno done, so there ya go!

Addicted-to-Stamps-181-Barb-Derksen

Now just how fun is THIS?

Supplies:

Designer Paper – Karen Foster

Embossing Folder – We R Memory Keepers

Stamps – “Happy” Studio G

“New” Katie and Co

“Alphabet Stamps” Ki

Super simple card, just some stamping then leaving a strip flat, embossing both ends of a white cardstock.  Applied a few thin strips of DP above and below the sentiment.  Fussy cut elements and bumped them up with adhesive foam.  I strung a bit of twine through the toilet paper to suspend it.

And inside I fussy cut a couple pairs of undies (Mens and Ladies) but I’m not going to show them to you – that would be a bit daring … haha!

Thanks for taking the time to visit today.

Fusion Card Challenge “Pretty in Pink”

I seem to be on a roll today, the cards are happening and no major mess-ups yet Winking smile

I liked today’s:

FUSION – “Pretty in Pink” challenge

I was attracted right off to the (photo) black, white and soft pink theme.

Fusion---Pretty-in-Pink---Barb-Derksen

Supplies:

Rose – Kaiser Craft DP (fussy cut)

DP (stripes and wood grain) – Craft Smith

Lace Ribbon – Craft Decor

Stamp – Paper Smooches

Pearlescent Paint

Sequins

I like the boldness of the black and whites, the pretty pastel floral and sequins really stand out against it.

Mojo Monday 435 Challenge Card

Had such fun making this card – layers upon LAYERS of papery goodness.  This is Julee’s fabulous sketch for

Mojo Monday 435

And my little creation:

MM-435-Barb-Derksen-1

The lighting is a little on the dull side but I think you get the idea of all the color and layers going on!

SUPPLY LIST:

Designer Paper – Crate Paper

Stamp – “Birthday Cheer” by Hot off the Press

Markers - TomBow

Ink – Versamark

MM-435-Barb-Derksen-2

I finished it off with a black bow to tie into the black cardstock backing under each layer… then the teeny sequin too!

I hope you take some time to day to STOP and just know that every NORMAL (boring?) day is actually a miracle.  Be thankful that a “normal” day means there is no crisis happening and things are going along as they should.  Celebrate it – and then do something for someone who IS going through crisis (eg: a card, phone call, baking, donation…) – you have the opportunity to make each “ordinary” day EXTRAordinary!

Give Praise:

Psalm 66:1

God’s miracles are all around

Within our sight and touch and sound.

Sketch Saturday card–week #399

Quick QUICK blog entry, as I am fallllllingggggg…

BEHIND

Managed to get a card snuck into the day for:

Sketch Saturday Week #399

I see this week is sponsered by Simon Says Stamp – you should check it out!

And I fiddled and faddled and played with scads of supplies and things laying about in my creative space and managed to make:

SS-399-Barb-Derksen-1

SUPPLIES:

Paper – Glitter

Paper – Shimmer

Ribbon

Tag – granite sample from hardware

Butterfly

Stamp – Stampin’ Up

Wink of Stella

I did run some stitching down the ribbon using my sewing machine but it is almost impossible to see in this photo.  This card is much more in depth if you could see it in natural light.  I was tickled to use this sample chip for a granite look countertop which I picked up at a hardware store – probably a year ago.  The shades match everything else on my card.

I’m so glad you stopped by!

Freshly Made Sketches 223 Card

The second week of February and its a good thing its sunny in my heart because the days here seem to remain kind of overcast.

I’ll be scarce these couple of weeks as I’m having a luvly visit with my Mother in Law.  But I’ll keep my hand in making cards as birthdays and occaisions don’t take holidays.  I decided to whip together a challenge card.  I chose

Freshly Made Sketches 223

After much monkeying around I came up with this creation:

FMS-223-Barb-Derksen-1

I USED:

Designer Paper – Shimelle (American Crafts)

Stamp – Bo Bunny (sentiment)

Stamp – Stampin Up (background on circle)

Glitter Washi Tape

FMS-223-Barb-Derksen-2

And I leave you with this sentiment!  I hope youre day is peaceful and beautiful, sweet and calm.

Psalm 131:2

But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

like a child quieted at its mother’s breast;

like a child that is quieted is my soul.

FREEBIE .studio Cut File & Sunday Stamps 119 card

I decided I simply had to fit a “reward” bit of crafting time into my past few days so I checked out several card challenges and this one took my interest:

Sunday Stamps 119 Card Challenge

“What do you see when you look at these colors? Remember you can use any shade of these colors you may have in your stash. “

I thought these colors were right up the alley that the right side of my brain was engaging…

SS119-1-Barb-Derksen

SUPPLIES:

Cardstock

Glitter Cardstock

Distress Ink – Tim Holtz “Tea Dye”

Embossing Powder

SS119-2-Barb-Derksen

Frame Cut (.studio) – Barb Derksen FREEBIE

SS119-3-Barb-Derksen

Stamp – Forever in time (ruler)

I have had this ruler acrylic stamp in my supplies stash forever and it’s never been used so I drug it out and made the decision to make it work for this challenge so I created this “frame” cut to use on my Silhouette Cameo.  And therefore I’d like to share it with you, for all of you who have a Silhouette magic machine.

I forgot to say that I made the background by clear embossing onto the base cardstock using the ruler stamp, then used the “Tea Dye” distress ink overtop.
