Thinking of You frame card

JAI-414-Barb-Derksen-1

Feels like forever since I’ve created and posted all in one fell swoop.  Well, thats the way it has to be with me, isn’t it with such busy days.  I am happy with this oh so simple Just Add Ink  #414 challenge.  I pulled this one together quite effortlessly, keeping it straightforward before I could get carried away.  I was dying to use this panel from Kaiser Craft Hanami Garden Collection, and because I wanted to “Just Add” some Ink I used a tombow clear ink marker and embossed this sentiment.  I diecut the frame using stitched die from Simon Says Stamp  with DP by CraftSmith “Natural Luxury” (a 12 x 12 pad I go back to time after time and wish I’d bought two, no three, NO, the craft hoarder in me yells 12 haha!)

For a final touch of elegance I added some Twinkle Dust glitter to the blooms.  And there you have it.  Hope you’re enjoying a beautiful and creative day.

Embossed Happy Birthday

JAI-406-Barb-Derksen

This card whipped itself up in my head before I ever set to getting the supplies together.  I have (as I am sure we ALL have) a paper scraps bin and I enjoy finding bits in there for cards.  This super simple sketch by Just Add Ink #406 was just the ticket for me!  I started with making myself use some Adirondack embossing powder in “Stream” which has been looking at me since I purchased it.  The color is so lovely so I promised myself I’d use it (YES, I did have out loud conversations with myself)  I embossed a Jillibean Doilies stamp and applied the embossing powder and cooked it.  Don’t know about you but I LOVE cooking embossed things.  I have not seen an animated embossing session on Instagram but I’m betting it would be mesmerizing and relaxing, as much for a crafter person like me as the ever burning wood logs you see… ANYWAYS… I layered this embossed cooked doily with various die cuts to add interest and topped it with my very favorite TEENSY tiny My Favorite Things Happy Birthday sentiment.  (for a tiny sentiment it SHOUTS out on some cards)

I used a scrap of fabric coated paper for the backdrop (after mis-slicing the embossed top layer several times)  Once I had success on the cutting of the top layer embossed paper I bumped it up with foam tape, affixed the sentiment disk and the final touch – adding some pretty shiny silver sequins from Simon Says Stamp

Mauve and gentle Yellow Birthday Card

JAI 401 Barb Derksen 1

Not the greatest photo of my card ever, however I feel fortunate just to have a window to create this card and get it posted!  I’m a week home from Houston, Texas and I’m sooooo sick.  Just a cold/flu thing I cannot seem to shake. I’ve slept on and off for two days, hopefully tomorrow will dawn bright with me feeling better.  I made this card based on this week’s sketch from Just Add Ink #401

loved the simplicity of this sketch which allowed me to bring this together quickly, using scraps of DP and to use my crafting purchase from when I was in Houston, these spellbinders scalloped circles.

I layered up atop a blank cardstock base, with a folder embossed layer, then two layers of DP backed with coordinating colors of cardstock.  The finishing touch is the Happy Birthday using a My Favorite Things stamp and then backed with this lovely foil scalloped circle.

Thanks for stopping by!

You are AMAZING Card

JAI-335-Barb-Derksen

This is my take on the “Just Add Ink” Card Challenge – a nice and simple challenge.  Had hoped to take an hour out to craft WITH my Sister Nina (who’s birthday it is today TA-DAAAA!) and my SIL Judy too, but we all have conflicting schedules so we are working apart but together – the joy of the internet. I’m the luckiest gal in the world with the most incredible sister ever, and a batch of lovely sister in laws. That we love to create together, on and off line, is totally bonus.

What’s not to like about this Just Add Ink #335 challenge – three simple shapes and a sentiment.  I chose to use my x cut dies, teeny tiny sentiment words and butterflies by Honey Bee Stamps and some Tim Holtz distress inks and finishing off with a brush of Wink of Stella on the butterfly wings.

Just Add Ink #299 Inspiration Card

Such pretty colors in the inspiration picture today -

Just Add Ink # 299

And even though spring is barely beginning (unless the ides of March come upon us and bring us back to winterish weather) - this image still has the power to make me feel all warm, sitting in the shade of a tree and sipping on something sweet and tart and watermelony too.  My imagination did its best to capture this feel:

Supplies:

Designer Paper - Crate Paper

Blooms - Die-Namics

Distress Inks - Tim Holtz

I love these pretty little gems I picked up at the dollar store - I have them in just about every soft pastel pearlescent shade, and I seem to be able to use them for many projects.

I hope you've been inspired today!
