ORIENTAL DELIGHT BUTTONS

download

Miles made these buttons for you. He came to my rescue as I thunk up a new batch, but could not bring them to fruition. He's such a prince about that. He's so busy but when I'm in a pinch he makes time to help me out. I think he's been moved by all your kind comments and encouragement. Course his buttons and elements are always way cool – can you imagine what he would have created if he had become a jewellery designer or something?

LAYOUT BY READER ANNE OF ALAMO!
I'm not sure of the rest of the kit and elements, but the
denim stars are my download from yesterday!
Thanks for sharing Anne - and YOUR layout cold be here too!
NICE LAYOUT ANNE!

I was in the nursary for Church yesterday – only two little charges, both under the age of two. One boy, one girl – matched in height and weight, tho she was three months his junior. She was the boss of that boy! He was wearing some sort of overalls and she would grab a handful of that and just haul him around, or grab his face etc. Watch out pre-school! He stood and took it without flinching. I would try to bribe him away by producing various treats from my nursary survival bag I brought along.

We spoiled ourselves yesterday with lunch out. We had Chinese. Not healthy Chinese - nooooo, the yummy cholesterol filled deep fried kind. It never tasted so good. LOL Miles has been a soldier through my healthy eating venture so he deserved it. He said I need to have one day a week where we spoil ourselves, and I agree.

We had hoped to foray out to take more photos in the afternoon, but the weather here was positively gloomy! The sky was only making a half hearted effort at spitting tiny flakes of snow at times, through a watery grey, sludge of clouds. The lighting was murky and dank. Good day for a nap instead – which I did. Miles went for a workout – good chap!

you're out-numbered Goosie!

I made a bunch of wraps up for the coming weeks lunches. I've come up with a great healthy recipe for filling whole wheat wraps – let me know if you would like the recipe and I will publish it in the future.

my home-made brown rice and black bean wraps!

I watched a video on msn yesterday by Steve Irwin's widow – what a wonderful woman. I know there has been so much exposure of her lately, but I can't stop watching and following her story. I think because she and her sweet child Bindy are so GOOD and PURE and they inspire me. I would love for you to watch the video of a talk that was given by clicking HERE.

Genesis 1:1 KJV

"In the beginning God created the heaven

and the earth."

Speaking of this amazing world which Lord has created for us to enjoy and and admire... Miles has a most interesting book he reads from quite often. It's so fascinating – I can only read and digest it in small parts. If you know anyone with a curious mind this would make a terrific gift. (Why do you immediately come to mind, Becky?) The title of the book is THE SEVEN MYSTERIES OF LIFE, written by Guy Murchie. (you can find a link to it HERE)

His book covers almost every subject you can think of. It took him 27 years to write. Here is an exerpt from a chapter he has written on sleep:

Sleep is of course another way in which consciousness is divided, in this case temporally and into cycles that are normally (but not necessarily) geared to the motions of the earth. Sleep also seems to be vital, particularly to the functioning of a highly evolved mind. However, animals, especially primitive ones, may live out their entire lives with little or no sleep. Ants, for instance, seem not to sleep although they may do something equivalent in short intervals still unnoticed by man. On the other hand, animals that are preyed upon on the plains cannot afford to relax their vigilance for more than a few seconds, so they take turns sleeping, usually with their eyes open, and some solitary antelopes go to places where they can see without being seen and, after a careful look around, sleep deeply for perhaps a minute or two at a time.

Creatures with safe refuges, like the mouse in its hole, the hippopotamus in its pool and the bird in its tree, sleep very soundly. As do the large predators, who almost never have anything to fear exposed to full veiw. A few, if they have eyelids, not only close tho their eyes but cover them with paws or tails, or if they have very keen ears, folded. Seals are known to sleep underwater while holding their breath. The deepest sleeper of all, not counting the hibernators or the sperm whale, is reputedly the sloth bear of India who has such a fierce temper that even a hungry tiger has never been known to risk attacking him.

Most deep sleepers, however, including humans, have a sort of filter in the central nervous system that discriminates to some degree between harmless and dangerous sounds, or scents or other stimuili. A circus elephant will sleep through having another elephant sit on his head, yet will rouse on hearing a faint metallic clink. Or a mother will sleep thorugh her husbands snores and coughs but wake the moment her baby whimpers.

23 Dangerous Child Facts

1. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill 2000 sq. foot house 4 inches deep.

2. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3. A 3-year-old's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound boy wearing Batman underwear and a superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.

5. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using the ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6. The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7. When you hear the toilet flush and the words "Uh-oh," it's already too late.

8. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9. A six year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day.

10. Certain LEGOs will pass through the digestive tract of a four-year-old.

11. Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

12. Super glue is forever.

13. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15. VCR's do not eject PB & Jam sandwiches even though TV commercials show that they do.

16. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18. You probably do not want to know what that odor is.

19. Always look in the oven before you turn it on. Plastic toys do not like ovens.

20. The local fire department has a 5-minute response time.

21. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22. It will however make cats dizzy.

23. Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

  10. I'm interested in the healthy wraps too. Can you freeze them? If not, I wouldn't make up more than what you would eat in a week, but then again I suppose it really depends on what all is in them.

Also, did you decide on a date for PJ day?
