Today's entry is another short one as I'm working diligently on a project (Yes, A. I'm cracking the creative whip over myself yesterday and today!) Shirley Shanley - I plan on publishing your layout tomorrow.
Thanks for sending me your lightening stories. I KNOW I've missed one or two - please forgive me. Dawn shared her lightening story with us:
"Not nearly as interesting as your friend's lightning stories (although I had a modem fried by lightning through the phone line. Weird because it went through Dh's puter first and didn't effect his but fried mine.): A couple weeks ago, we were getting a bit of a storm. At the exact same moment, we saw the lightning and heard the thunder (making my DD and myself jump & look at each other). My 17yo DS came downstairs to tell us he just saw the coolest thing: When the lightning hit, it apparently hit a pole across the street from us. No damage, fire, etc. but he said it was the "hugest" ball of fire he'd ever seen...and it was totally random that he happened to be looking out his window at that exact moment."
I'm reading a good book right now, it's called Tree - A life Story by David Suzuki (illustrated by Robert Bateman) and it's just fascinating. I learned a neat fact about the Pink Lady Slipper flower from it:
Lady Slippers tempt bees into landing on it's big, overhanging lower lip of it's pink flower, whereupon the upper lip closes and traps the bee inside. The bee struggles to get out and as it does it bumps into the flowers anther stem, picking up a headful of pollen, which, after the bee gets away, may deposit it onto another flower. Pretty cool, hey?

All your tapes have been lovely so far Barb. As for lightning all I can say is don't go out in a storm. We had a kid get hit when I was stationed in Orlando. He died not from the lightning but he couldn't move when he fell into a puddle afterwards and drown. And that ball of fire is actually a plasma ball. They are scary stuff, saw one once when working in the Navy and it scared the poop out of me. Did some serious work on the electronics too.
ReplyDeleteAs to you catching up with me I've been super busy and gotten almost nothing done. I'll ttyl!
Hugs,
-Amy

ReplyDeletesorry to "bug" your comment page again, but you could always do a set of tape based on the night sky or night time (lol ok so this is TOTALLY selfish b/c i would love to be able to say "hey blog readers, Barb has a coordinating set of tape for this")....lol but i really do think a nighttime/bedtime set would be adorable!
