Happy New Year and Junkyard Garden Alpha

My sweet Mr. made me a delightful evening of delectable food - as follows!  It was a wonderful way to bring in the evening, being snowed in all by ourselves.  Here is what he made me:

He had the table set up so beautiful with glassware etc and candles and the "whole nine yards" (boy he hates these cliches!)

Photos_2

These are pesto filled portabella mushrooms topped with toasted almonds - a takeoff on a recipe someone dear to us served recently!

Photos_3

Crunchy coconut shrimp - oh my, with a sweet pepper jelly.

Photos_4

Some exotic Indian food - nummy samosas and I'm not sure what the other items were but they were yummy with a spicy sauce.

Photos_5

Hummus decorated with edible flowers (thanks Sis!)  and sesame rice crackers - a perfect combo.

Photos_8

Salsa chips in tri color with homemade salsa.

Photos_10

Spinach pizza topped with peppery sausage.

Photos_9

Served with a bottle of non-alcoholic bubbly!

And finished off with a delicious decadent pineapple/mango dessert.  And yes, he made it all and he did not even mess up the kitchen.  SUPER man!  A very memorable New Year's Eve.

Just waiting for our daughter to arrive, in fact have to finish her Christmas gift off so I will end off here.  Come back tomorrow to collect the third part of my Junkyard Garden Kit, as mentioned yesterday I have not changed the info in it since I had it posted at Sophia's so you get it "as is" - for personal use only, please and I would love to see how you use my kit!  Just send me a jpg and I will post your layouts here!

  4. Hello SWEET Barb!

I am running in and out quickly as I am LONG past my bedtime and I've been caring for my 8 and 10-year-old stepsons this week and have not had much computer time, but have been trying to get around to my FAVORITE ladies to wish you a VERY Happy New Year!

How SPECIAL to spend a romantic New Year's Eve with your DH. I may have to wait another decade for that to happen, but we managed to spend some MAGICAL time together even with the boys in tow! LOL! I chuckle as I NEVER thought I'd be looking after young ones again, but I actually enjoy having them and they are SO well-behaved and don't put up a bit of a fuss when I remind them to say, "please" and "thank you" or to brush their teeth, etc. It is as if they await my "mothering", which is such a blessing as I NEVER try to be their mother as they already have one! *wink*

I hope you are having a MOST wonderful visit with your daughter and I am sure you will be sharing with us afterwards!

BEAUTIFUL photos of your Mister's YUMMY New Year's Eve cuisine! Oh my, SO many good things to nibble on! It does my heart good to see you spoiled so! He, he ... *big cheesy grin*

How GENEROUS of you to share your LOVELY *Junkyard Garden* and I shall surely try to get back to snag it from you!

Barb, thank you SO very much for ALL that you have shared with ALL of us in Scrapland and beyond this past year. May 2010 be a year FILLED with even MORE love, joy and laughter than the one before!

    Love and hugs,
    Linda :D

  9. I just have one question: Does Mr. Miles have a brother? LOL You are a very lucky lady to not only have a hubby who is thoughtful and considerate, but, a great cook, too! That is so sweet!

Thank you for this lovely kit. I love eclectic-type of things.

    Happy New Year!
