Oh happy day!
I have two great things which start this BC Day Holiday Monday on a positive note - I get to give something I created away and I get to give something away Paulette from Create with TLC created too. Thank you so much to all of you who visited and took the time to leave us some comment ♥. Our two lucky winners are:
and
Carol O
Can you both please contact Paulette (Create with TLC) at her website so she can arrange to get you your winnings! I had such fun teaming up with Paulette and hope we can do this in the future as well.
One of Paulette’s blog followers, Carol, created this TOO FUN card using my Mosquito stamp and Paulette’s word art!
My friend Debbie (who I met through the Silhouette Plus forums and who ROCKS with designs and ideas) made this SO WONDERFUL crab card from my CRABBY files! Y’all have NO idea how tickled I am to see what you make! Thanks Debbie! I’d love your feedback on the “usability” of my files and if there is anything I can do to improve them. Thanks for sharing! Debbie has some lovely files too if you comb through her blog - draw a hot coffee and pull up a chair!
In case you’re wondering exactly what BC Day is all about, this sums it up:
“The first Monday of August is known as British Columbia Day, BC Day or B.C. Day, in the province of British Columbia. It is a statutory holiday and gives Canadians in the province the chance to celebrate their achievements or relax with friends and family members.”
I’m spending it at home, with my handsome Mr. and it will involve at points some crafting (yay!) a workout (GROAN!) and some good food (to wear that good food off) If you’re a fellow British Columbian I “toast” to a happy and relaxed day to get your week started and make the rest of your work week all the shorter and therefore pleasant!

and keep thee,
The Lord make his face shine upon thee,
and be gracious unto thee:
the Lord lift up His countenance upon thee,
and give thee peace.

I just had to whip up another summer type design and cutting file, it was stuck in my head in the middle of the night and I was propelled out of bed at like 2 a.m to “get it down on paper” which in today’s technology meant, for me, to open up Photoshop and Silhouette Designer edition and work it all out. I’m tickled with how it looks!
I made this Sweet Shell file. The challenge was to get it “pleated” looking and I achieved this through a combination of dashed fold lines and I also used the round part (not the hook) of a small crochet needle to round the paper between the folds. I left the bottom of the shell flat so it sat on the card nicely (after I stamped it inside of course)
I placed a mother of pearl element inside with this sentiment.
Supplies:
I cannot identify the paper as I used scraps from a bin I had going. The ribbon is a velveteen I bought at a dollar store, the pearl the same. Bits and bobs, that’s what I’ve got going on here. The stamp, however, I do know is from Fiskars.

Congrats to the winners. Love the shell design an how you've used it on your card. TFS. Have a wonderful BC Day!
ReplyDeleteHappy BC day to you too! My hubby's working today but I'm going to find a way to squeeze in some painting, for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove how you got it to pleat, gorgeous card! Congrats to the winners and thank you for the free file. I will Pin it so more followers will find you.
ReplyDeleteBarb, thank you again for another great cutting file. I'm looking forward to trying this out too. Some time ago, I was planning and "Under the Sea" (Little Mermaid) party for my youngest (now grown) daughter Ariel. All of the invitation had to be hand cut. I used a pearl looking paper, punched holes at the top, tied ribbon to all 25 of them and made them the part invitations. It would have been wonderful to have a Silhouette cutting machine way back then. Your cutting files and the Silhouette go hand in hand for lots of creative fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm the one blushing now. Thank you for sharing my "Crabby Day" card and the link to my blog. I'm looking forward to having some new visitors.I hope they enjoy my shares as much as I enjoy yours. Crafters are such a great part of a community. I think it's the sharing and caring part of us that make it this way. Big hugs to you dear friend. xxx - Debbie
