Oh my GOSH - this, just spotted over Osoyoos:
I swear this fella tried to land on me. (as I Fish around for the econo size repellant…)
A Challenge:
Ha, I’m a crafting machine these days, loooooooove when this happens and I have the time and wherewithal to just go for it. I came up with a saying even while in the throes of a huge creative mess:
“KEEP GOING - while it’s FLOWING!”
What do you think, the saying might catch on? I think it would be a terrific word art.
I took up the challenge at Mojo Monday today.
Here is how I used up a whole raft of scraps to create my interpretation:
Supplies:
Designer Paper - Delight by Nancie Rowe Janitz
Stamp - Studio G
Inks - Versa Magic, eggplant and Versafine Onyx Black
I think this came together nicely. I did not want to completely “lose” the flower pattern on the foundation so I created two ‘windows’ using transparency paper.
I cut and glued a cardstock frame to one and I actually sewed (minor hurdle for me, I’m still a little daunted by a sewing machine) the brown ric-rac to the other.
The final challenge was to choose a ribbon. I did not want anything too wide as this card was stacking up to be a busy one.
See, perfect!
So you’re wondering what this is - it’s some COATS Nainsook Doublefold Bias Binding. I’ve already mentioned I’m a non-sewer who’s tentatively stepping up to the plate. I’m also a super frugal stay at home on one income crafter who pinches every penny so hard the Queen does not have a face left after I’m done, like if you can pry the penny from my hand… oh what WILL I do when they take my pennies away
I’m not cheap. I rather like the challenge of finding unique things at thrift stores and yard sales and incorporating them. Thing of it is there are some things I will never compromise on, some products I’d not live without and am willing to pay what it takes.
What’s YOUR favourite ‘not specifically made for’ item you like to use?

I Won!
While I am speaking of challenges I’m burning a little spot into my carpet doing the Happy Dance here as I just discovered I’m winner of Crop Stop Challenge #82 I’ve won a $15 gift certificate to the Crop Stop Store - it’s already burning a hole in my pocket and you can betcha that I’ll be buying some of those aforementioned “full price” items from their store. Thank you so very much!
And if YOU’VE not taken part in one of the Crop Stop challenges then I wholly encourage you to do so - just click HERE and let the fun begin.

I must send you over to look at Kelly’s blog to admire her (jaw droppingly) amazing Princess Mini Album on her Finding Time to Create Blog - I am truly stunned by her ability to put projects like this together. She has a detailed post about how she gathered the supplies and then worked it out. All I can say is its a good thing we don’t live close to each other or it’d be dangerous!

Lovely Sentiment
I’ll leave you with a lovely sentiment I was reading today - it would be ideal for a friendship project:
Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person;
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together,
knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping, and then,
with the breath of kindness,
blow the rest away.
~ George Eliot

Hey Barbara! I just saw your sweet comments on my blog post. I wanted to let you know that I have no idea what a "custom graphic" is. Maybe you can email me. If it's something I can use and feature on Word Art Wednesday, maybe that can help bring some traffic your way. Let's chat via email.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Karen
