NICK'S RHINO-SAURUS ELEMENT

I've dedicated this Rhino to Nick - KAT'S son, seeing as how Kat supplied me with all the terrific reference photos for these animals. Thanks so much Kat!

I want to take a moment to say THANK YOU - to all of you who take the time to leave me your kind comments and encouragement. I know firsthand how hard it is to find the time to leave comments - specially if your like me, you have many blogs to visit each day. Sometimes when I get to wondering what keeps me blogging it all boils down to you. This and knowing my blog is a place where my family and friends can share in my life. And I also know that sometimes my sweet husband likes to visit me here too.... I always know in the back of my mind that if something should ever happen to me, (God forbid!) this blog would be a gift to him...

We took the weekend off, though we stayed home and took care of some items which needed attention. I even completed a portrait/painting (digitally altering it with Painter x) of my dear friend Sonya.

PORTRAIT/PAINTING OF SONYA

(click to see a bit bigger)

Yes, I am pleased with how it came out. This will print to 8 x 10 at 'excellent' quality - or it could be blown up. How delightful, afterward to discover this is in the exact colors of Sonya's bedroom, where this will hang!

Miles and I took a few moments out yesterday to visit our new Provincial Gateway Center for our little town! This $2 million dollar building serves as an entry point to BC - one of only six "gateway" centers province-wide. It's quite an attractive building - will be a real asset to our area. When you come visit you will have to take a tour!

THE FACADE OF THE NEW GATEWAY VISITORS CENTER

There is a stunning metal sculpture gracing the front of the center - a theme linked with our local native band - the Nk'mip. The Nk'mip are one of the wealthiest and innovative bands in all of Canada. The band also has a brand new Cultural Center, restaurant, spa and resort on the far side of Osoyoos Lake!

NK'MIP STATUE

We took a few moments out to unpack a few boxes of books and art supplies at our NEW house on Saturday - its pretty exciting. Our new little home will be getting new carpet and lino this week. I will keep you posted! With all this 'good stuff' happening I never know what I will be blogging tomorrow!

Nothing beats uncertainty to make tomorrow more interesting!

MATTHEW 6:34

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow,

for tomorrow will worry about itself!"

I've got to run, have a lot to do before visiting my dear friend Melanie for the afternoon. You all have a wonderful day, and thanks again for your kind comments!

BARB'S HANDY TIP #220

Learn CPR

We should all know this stuff - though we don't all have the time/resources to do so. Here's a website that will bring you up to speed - provided FREE through the University of Washington School of Medicine. There's all the info, plus videos!

Who knows if learning this may enable to save someone's life!

  2. What a cute Rhino! I love the painting you did! Want to do one of Emma next? LOL! I'm glad you had fun this weekend, Emma nad I had a good time too. You always seem to post on my blog while I'm busy typing it up- and since it takes about an hour while I search for freebies that figures. I did put one photo of this weekend up but I was so busy having fun that I kept forgetting to take out my camera. Oh well. I agree that everyone should learn CPR and first aid. Check around your community there's usually a few times a year where you can go and get certified for free- or bite the bullet and pay for it. I have to renew my CPR this month before it expires so I can lifeguard this summer. I'm so excited about your new house, I can't wait to see photos of it finished!
    Hugs,
    -Amy

  13. Just downloaded all the zoo elements. Thank you soooo much. I have some zoo pics waiting to be scrapped. Just didn't have anything to scrap them with. Could use some zoo themed background papers if you feel like doing it. If not that's ok. I'll come up with something. The painting of your friend came out beautifully. I'm sure she will love it.
