Blogger is being SO BAD today!!!
For the FOURTH TIME... LOL...
Joy of joys, both of our daughters, Dezrae and Melanie, and their boyfriends, have come home for visits this weekend. It is GOOD. My fingers can't re-type just HOW joyful I am... LOL!
MANGE!
Our friends John and Italia had us over for dinner on Friday night. They just returned from their four month vacation to Italy - the OLD country. I understand it was quite a shock to Italia who has not been back for many many years. Somehow places keep changing even though some part of us expects it to all be the same when we go back.
We will be going over to see their vacation photos this evening!
It was good to take some time off during this past weekend. We went for lunches and out for walks and got some relaxing time in. Miles had one appointment on friday so I walked over to my favorite store (thrift) and picked up this belated anniversary gift to ourselves. Not bad for $20, tray included. I've done some research on the 'net since, and discovered this set was probably made in the 1950's. Its in excellent shape and has a beautiful lustre!
Did you know that this is a great time of the year to 'force' some blossoms? Taken from Spring 2006 Creative Home. The following three would be a good suggestion:
Feb or March: Apple or Crab Apple (wks to flower - 2-4)
March: Bridalwreath Spirea (wks to flower - 4)
March: Flowering Dogwood (wks to flower - 2)
Before you cut, stand back and determine a plan for pruning to maintain an overall shape.
1. cut branches, pencil-thickness, 12 to 36 inches long, angled, using a sharp knife or pruners. Put the cut ends in water right away. Bring them indoors. Strip the buds from the bottom quarter of each branch.
2. Crush the cut ends with a hammer to help them absorb water easier.
3. Wrap the branches loosely in newspaper and secure the bundle with rubber bands. Submerge in a bathtub of lukewarm water for 12 hours. Unwrap branches.
4. Stand the branches in a tall, sturdy container fo water and set it in a cool room with indirect sunlight. change the water twice a week. When the buds begin to swell and show color, move the branches into a warmer, brighter room, but keep them out of direct sunlight.

The grass withers and the grass falls,
but the word of our God stands forever!
