HEAVY METAL KIT - tags 'n things

Yesterday was devoted to creating a biography for a friend and fellow artist - Mina Battagin. I can't say I wasn't nervous to take this project on, but then again creating a biography layout is not much different than making a scrapbooking layout! Mina is very talented, she paints, 'pots', spins and creates unique jewellery pieces (that I am slobbering over!)

MINA'S BIO - I incorporated her own jewellery and paintings into it.

Photo corners: Josie Celio "Gypsy Set"

Mina is a vivid, intense and passionate artist with a great outlook on life. She sent me the following statement about ATTITUDE, penned by Charles Swindoll - and I thought I should share it with you!

ATTITUDE

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past,
Than education, than money,
Than circumstances,
Than failures, than successes,
Than what other people think or say or do.

It is more important than appearance,
Giftedness or skill,
It will make or break an organization…
A school…a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice
Everyday regarding the attitude we will
Embrace for that day.

We cannot change our past…
We cannot change the fact that people will
Act in a certain way.
We cannot change the inevitable.
The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have.

And, that is our attitude…

I am convinced that life is 10%
What happens to me
And 90% how I react to it.

And so it is with you.

DO NOT PRAY FOR A LIGHTER LOAD, BUT FOR A STRONGER BACK

"Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his presence continually!"

1 Chronicles 16:11

MINA'S PRETTIES

I'm currently reading a marriage book - its called "Your Time Starved Marriage" by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrott. I'm reading it alone at this point because we are sooo busy, tho we began it together at first. The way I figure it is at least if one of us reads it we can share the knowledge. If only I change some things I can help our marriage to be the best it should be. Too often I've had to return books to the library unread, which I had every good intention of reading "when I got time"...

I'm certainly glad I am reading it. Its making me aware of why its good to 'move' on things... not to wait. For example they say:

"It's been said that the saddest word in our language is someday. Why? Because someday eventually turns into "if only." And "if onlys" are the result of time you can't recoup: "If only we would have made more free time." "If only we would have taken that trip." "If only we would have built that porch." "If only..."

It's at that moment - when "someday" becomes "if only" - that your marriage slips quietly into the future, and you wonder how you could have let that happen. How could you have taken time - not to mention your relationship - for granted?"

I would highly recommend this book - you can find it HERE on the Parrott's website. The website itself is a wealth of information, and what better thing to invest in, but your marriage?

PRETTY BALSALM FLOWER

Ok - this is sort of gross... so if you are squeemish or don't like spiders, you won't want to read the story about nine year old Jesse. If you're not, you can click on THIS LINK and read an article about his small misfortune, which ended up alright (if you did not see it splashed on the news already.

  3. awesome job Barb...looks great...the Attitude poem is soemthing to think about and I really love what author had to say about about "someday" and "if only" ...so many times we are this way with our love ones "someday" we will and then it turns into "if only" ...sad on what we place more importance on

  4. I had a Bible school teacher whose favorite line was: "Attitude is Everything" We heard it so often, I'll never forget it!

The "someday" was interesting too. So important to live for the day, the present, keeping in mind what REALLY is important. "Take no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself". What adventure does this day hold? Relax and let God look after the tomorrows. My husband's younger brother and his wife are sweating the tomorrows ... so sad as they are missing out on the good things of today ... especially TIME with their little 1 yr old daughter! So caught up in the cares of this life that they can't see the forest for the trees.

This metal kit is so interesting - lots of potential here. Thank you for sharing.

Also, that close-up photo of your new brown purse? I think that might be an interesting background for an ATC. Would you mind if I tried it?

  7. Sometimes when we say "someday" it is a bit of a saving grace. I have lots dreams & goals for "someday" but most of them are just 'passing fancies'. If I acted on all my 'someday' desires, I would never learn to live in the present. I'm restless enough so its probably good that I have to put off a few of those 'somedays' but yes, I agree with not saying it for everything. We must live in the moment sometimes too!

Like the Attitude statements. Still working on that this week. Still difficult but its only Tuesday :)

    Hope to see you tomorrow!
