50'S COOL SHADES

Are'nt these fun? Thanks to a thoughtful blog reader who suggested these... so sorry, I get a lot of comments and I don't have the time to hunt out 'zackly who you were... at any rate, here's your glasses and I have the other item in the works... I am totally open to suggestions. Any thoughts on more 50's items?

ME AND MY (WONDERFUL) MIL

(thats Mother-in-Law in the digi-scrapping world!)

I promised some pics, and finally managed to upload some pics from the camera. This is me and Mom at the Flea market in OK Falls. Ok falls is a weenie little town that has a big flea market. The flea is a semi-permanent sort of thing, with a lot blocked off year round, and vendors who come and go. When Miles went to take a photo of me, he was intercepted by one of the vendors who discussed whether we could or could not take a photo? Wierd. Perhaps, as Miles suggested, some vendors have some stolen items? Hmmmm.... at any rate, we must have looked honest because she relented.

MARIE AND DAD FEEDING

Yesterday Mom showed me how to make good pastry. She says quite honestly that she 'murders' it... and she really is rough on it - and it turns out perfectly. Its like the pastry you see in the commercials, all fluffy, flaky and light. She gets her hands right in it and mangles it. I think I picked up a few pointers though... When I learned, way back in high school, and ever since, I've been under the impression that you were not to handle it too much... but from now on I'm going to just kill it! I think Mom and I are going to tackle arranging my kitchen cupboards today - should be fun!

DAD'S HAS ALPACA HAIR?

Just kidding, of course... good thing they have a sense of humour. We've built two entire puzzles in the time they've been here - and ate far, far too much! Today Miles and Dad are going to go and pick up some owl pellets - right, owl pellets. Miles is having a special day with the gifted students in the district on friday at the Desert Center... the kids will be dissecting owl pellets as part of it! I will try to remember today to take some pics of some droppings for the blog - there are entire skeletons in them!

Going to run - Mom and Dad are up. You all have a Blessed Day. Thanks for all your comments and encouragement while I'm away visiting - I really appreciate it!

My Mom called this morning on the way to her Red Hat luncheon.I asked her where they were having it and she said she didn't know.I said"What are you going to do ..get in the van and just drive?LOL" She laughed and then told me she was meeting at the church and leaving from there.I told her I was wondering if we were gonna have to put an all points bulletin on the interstate for her..."Lady with huge red hat with purple feathers..looking lost.LOL" She can be so funny.LOL

  2. Barb, I just had to leave another post - your glasses are just too cute. I was scanning through your blog and I completely understand the MIL feelings. I feel like I am constantly being judged, my husband was babied and spoiled by mom and 2 big sisters. They all want to make sure I take care of him as good as they would....whew, that's a lot to ask and I could never wait on him hand and foot as they did.

The picture of you with your MIL is just beautiful - you are just beautiful!!!

    Take care! Hugz!

  22. Oh, I'm mad at myself! I used these glasses & then I managed to delete the zip file! And the link comes up with just "site maintenance" now. :(

Anyway, thought you might like to see how I used your cute glasses: The Birthday Present

Thanks very much, anyway. :) (I think that was me above - commenting anonymously - I don't think Mom's pair had the rhinestones, though!)
