A Simple Token of Affection

They're just a sprig of the first Saskatoons blossoming, picked by my husband and given with a peck on the cheek as he heads off to do MORE marking (the gruelling task allotted to all in the field of education - like laundry or dishes, it's NEVER caught up)

This sweet, small gift touches me more than an extravagant florist bouquet ever could. It's the scribbled crayon drawing of a wee one - or a sticky jam-kiss. It's a wriggling puppy or finding a coin. It's bursting out in giggles or the thrill of holding hands with my husband after all these years. It's coffee with a good friend or a beautiful sunset. It's an unexpected pleasure at just the exact right time. Its a comforting hug by someone i care about when I'm hurting. It's moments like these that are like the smell of rain after a hot summer day. Little gifts like this wipe away all the wrong from the rest of the day. It tells me he loves me more than if he hired a billboard on a super highway. Amazing, such a small thing.

What makes you happy?

  1. Hi Beautiful, it's Lillian here. I have a favour to ask of you. How are you doing? I love your blogs but they never tell me. I think your art is amazing and I love your photos of where you've been but it's lacking the one thing I want to read about most....you.

  2. Good morning Barb:)
I love your post today. It really DOES tell ALL about you.I know more about you today than I did yesterday.I LOVE that small things are appreciated. The things that mean the most to you are not money or things that puff you up and make you unreachable. It's the things that touch the heart that matter the most with you..and that is why I truly LOVE having you as my friend.:)

    Hugs,
    Valinda

  4. Isn´t he sweet! Yes, I agree, those little things show the love. Like when my hubby fixes my shower or feels so sorry for me when I can´t sleep, because of his snoring. :)
