I heard this song on the radio today. My mom and dad used to listen to it. Now that I think of it, most of the songs they listened to were sad. They only listened to Country, which tended to be sad tales of woe. Someone leaving someone. Someone following someone as they move from place to place seeking the gold/success they never attain. Someone seeing someone's ex-wife with someone else. Stuff like that. Perhaps thats why I shudder when I hear the words 'country+music' these days. Still, it is like they're sitting right there at the kitchen table when I hear this song. Do you have a song that reminds you of your folks?

  1. Mrs. Miles, thank you for putting the Ramblin' Rose video on your blog. I love that song and have not heard it for a long time. This was one of the songs my husband and I danced to when we were dating and taking ballroom dancing lessons. (Wow. This makes me sound old! But I am only 34. LOL!)

  2. Yes, I do have songs that remind me of my folks! :-) Any song from the musical "The King and I" reminds me of my mother because that was her favorite. And "Goodnight Irene" by the Weavers reminds me of my father because he always sang it to my mother's friend Irene.
Needless to say, you can guess that I'm a grandma and up there in age now, can't you? :-D

  3. Good old Nat King Cole :) ahhh beautiful :) His song 'Unforgettable' is one I sing constantly to my kids and hubby.

A song that reminds me of my mommy? There are millions but probably when I hear a song from a musical or I hear an old church hymn she use to hum.
