A Bit of “Repitition”– LESS IS MORE 285

LIM-285---Barb-Derksen

I decided to try my hand at this “Less is More” Challenge #285 -

REPETITION

First I stamped these sweet florals into postion using a Tricia Santry Studio stamp (Fiskars) and Versafine ink then embossed the lot.  Next I decided to create a simple stencil for the circles using my Silhouette Cameo.  Now I used Tim Holtz (mini) distress inks in three pretty shades to color the circles in. My final touch was to add the ‘grateful’ stamp by Stampin’ Up.

And I’m not quite sure but I may add a few sequins in the middle of each if the temptation strikes me later on.

I hope you were inspired here today!

My “Less is More” 268 Card

LIM-268-Barb-Derksen

Well this one was an easy choice for me – as the theme for Less is More Challenge 268 is:

“Whats outside your window”

So I was quite literal with my interpretation.  By the way the background paper may look like it has a dark splotch by the sentiment however that is just a shadow from a bud or two.  I was inspired by the orchard budding out and since I have two relatives who are moving into new homes…

The background paper is from Crate Paper – the image fussy cut from an SEI paper, then I punched the hole in, then added another small hole to put the string into.   The branch is a bit of thick brown twine pasted into place and the leaves coming off of this I drew by hand.  The sentiment is a partial stamp from a Katie and co stamp.

I had fun creating this card along with my Sister in Law Judy!

Less is More 248 Card

Wow, it has been over three weeks since my last post.  Sometimes we just get derailed despite our very best of intentions.  It has been a terribly busy season, with some time away, a wonderful visit with my sister Nina and a warm family reunion for Thanksgiving and there is my job at a printing business too, so not much time to craft lately.  But today I’m doing just this and jumping at the chance to try the

Less is More 248

This week’s challenge is to use “paper piecing”  - ha, I never knew it was called that! I enjoyed this technique.

LIM - 248 1_Barb Derksen

I’m not certain of the name of the paper I used for the pocket and flower as it was a remnant found in my scraps bin.  (that good old scrap bin, hey?)  The background paper is from Hampton Art.

The stamp for this flower and for the pocket and sentiment are by Stampin’ Up.

I mounted the pocket up using a bit of foam tape at the back and then I created this sentiment to slip into the pocket.  I trimmed it with coordinating paper from the background paper.

Thanks for visiting!

Less is More 236 Card and Photo of the Day

Squeeezed in a card today, between still catching up tasks after being away for a while.  I find being creative is my big reward and relaxes me.

Less is More 236

One Layer Card

This month we have the title

The Eyes Have it!

So your card this week should have eyes on it somewhere.

Please remember that we LOVE to see WHITE SPACE as part of your design and NO other layers, with minimal embellishments (if any).

Here’s my take:

LIM-236---Barb-Derksen

I rooster stamp is by Recollections, the EYE word are too.  The “miss you” is Paper Smooches. The stamped backdrop colors were made with a Stampin’ Up stamp and using Stampin’ Up inks.  The only other touch is Mr Rooster’s beady eye.

Less is More Card and 365 Photo of the Day

Dresses_Barb-Derksen

Theme – Champagne and Lace

So, I try to actually take each photo on the actual date, but that’s simply not possible.  I mean I really do snap a few through each day, however some turn out so “Meh!” that I won’t share because frankly, they are boooooring! So today’s photo was taking a while ago but its one I keep being drawn to.

This shop always displays beautiful dresses that shout “Celebrate!”  I’ve never seen an ordinary dress in the window.  These are the sort of dresses that you pay the most money for but only wear on a few occasions.  I’ve always thought this is ironic.  I hereby confess that I’ve been known to dress up “just because” for my handsome Mr. in one of these type of dresses because they make even the most ordinary day into something extraordinary.  He’s worth bringing out the bling for.

C’mon, tell me about your favorite dress and where you wore it last!

Less is More 199 and a little “Catch-up”

I’m happy to have a few hours to craft, and love having an opportunity to plunge into a challenge.  Judy and I teamed up  to try our hand at the theme from Less is More #199 - “Jingle All The Way!”  Here’s what I came up with:

less is more 199
Supplies: Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug Anna Griffin, Stamp – Studio G

I wanted to make this sparkly bell – I traced it using my Silhouette software from a free coloring file on the internet and I used some double sided carpet tape to adhere a vinyl cut of the bell to, then glittered it all up and then trimmed. It worked. My husband says it looks like a face of sorts.  Hmmm, he could be right on that, what do you think?  I added the bow at the end – he says if I move that up its probably better, may have to try this.  - So, I have but won’t take another pic and of course he’s right.

*****

I've just come home from a super fun two days visit with my girl!

me and dot

Melanie and I had an action packed couple of days together, shopping for our matching flashy leggings, hanging out, eating too much and all the delicious sort of wrong food groups, watching movies, coloring my hair and taking my A-DOR-ABLE G’dawg (thats grand-dog) out to the doggy park where she could run around like a little rabbit (she seriously does run like a bunny!)

gdawg

I love my GDawg so much – I spoiled the dickens out of her so much she now wants to be played with ALL DAY LONG!  Muahhahaha! Well, I mean it seems nobody’s producing any actual human grandkids for me so… I get G’Maw rights!

oink

Another fun thing we did is take some warm bedding items and lil gifts to Faith who owns this pot-bellied pig.   It appears that Faith has a right menagerie of critters she’s rescued and collected and a big heart for them too.  How hear- warming to be able to help.

I can’t believe how much we fit into just a few days, it was truly a special time!
