More June iphone photos - and another Vintage Element freebie (from my friend Pam)

Here’s more little iphone adventures – I have fun observing what’s blooming, ripening up etc and I love that I can catch it all on my iphone and share it with you.

Apricots are beginning to pink up – they are a nice size too. Smoothies – here we come!

And the cherries are looking highly bite-able!

The lake remains high – backing off just enough so people living on the shore can breathe a little easier. Yes, that bench is sitting on someone’s dock.

I enjoy the patterns in the petals these succulents

My little walks turn into big walks because I get caught up in the beauty of even “weeds”

This cactus captures me for at least 100 photos each year.

Remember these beautiful poppies from last week?

They have a whole new stark beauty this week.

Thanks for coming along on my weekly walks and putting up with my picture after picture after picture. I will never tire of the beauty in my own back yard. Every new bloom, blade of grass etc is the handiwork of God!

And, as promised, here is another beautiful vintage frame extracted from my friend Pam’s photo album. Enjoy! (PS – leaving a little comment love here for Pam would be nice too – more elements to follow in the coming weeks!)

Summer's coming (iphone pics) and a Free Vintage image!

Supposedly a picture is worth a 1000 words so I’ll let my camera do most of the talking and then top it all off with a pretty vintage image my friend Pam has generously donated for you!

These were some of the lovely blooms I saw this week.  Now, onto the kitchen:

June 14 flowers7

Love having fresh herbs etc in the kitchen – bringing in oregano, chive blossoms (baked into an artisan cheese bread) and…

toasted-coconut

I tried my hand at freshly toasted coconut – my Mr bought me a “nut” and milked it and broke the shell and then shaved the meat with a very sharp veggie peeler.  I browned it in the heat and I will tell you there is NO comparison to store bought packaged.  You must try this!

And onto a few odds of photos:

lake-flood

This is a little fishing lake not so far from us where we often like to escape to – only there is usually MANY feel of bare beach in front of that picnic table – I’d say about 40 feet!

horses

Beautiful horses – gorgeous photo op!

And last but not least (or best for last, perhaps?)  Here is the promised freebie of a vintage page from my friend Pam – more to come soon!

Click on the image to download!  Personal use.  Please leave some love for Pam here – she’s not a blogger and this is also her first time to give anything away!  A little encouragement goes a long way.

PSSSST – I see KimB has a pretty Gift as well for you – and she could use some kind words to WARM her up – yes, she does live in South Africa… but oh my I do believe I saw SNOW on her blog!

Quick QUICK mojo post - more to follow!

Just a quick Mojo post - more iphone adventures to follow soon!

Today's Mojo sketch:

I l♥ke (that's love and like all at the same time) this sketch - pretty and simple = pretty simple!

My take:

I really don't have the color right on this one, taking it outside, in the shade, in the wind is not too bright (yeh, trash talking about me)

Credits - not exactly sure about any one item except the ribbon and glue on beads which came from Michaels.

This close up is a little brighter but still not giving you a good idea of the pretty paper.  I love this stamp my sister inherited to me!

Here is another card I made for a friend recently - its always a challenge making masculine cards, don't you agree?  Do you have any great ideas to share?

The sentiment reads "We know not what the future holds but we know who holds the future"

Word art: Elegant
Paper: Its a mystery to me.
Ribbon: Wal Mart
Key: broke down from costume jewellery

Word Art: 1st FF

This Week in iPhone Pics and a Free Gift for YOU!

Here's what's happening this week in pics:

The cherries are beginning to blush

Apricots are getting fat and sassy

The lake level remains very high.  Lots of debris floating up on shore

I can never walk past pretty flowers without snapping them

See - told you!   And sometimes a subject is worthy of a series...

And then I play with some filters to top it all off

And then a totally unrelated pic -
I wanted to show how I used an antique crochet apron as a cover for the water cooler!

Finally, the moment you've all been waiting for - a little GIFT!  My friend Pam has generously allowed me to create a small series of vintage elements using her antique locket and to follow, some antique photo album plates and pages.  So check back now and again!    Please leave some love for Pam!

This element is sized just under 4 inches at 300 dpi with no drop shadow.

Mojo 194 and Moping About :(

Why am I moping?

I'm moping because my house is emp-teee!  My Mother and Father in Laws left this morning after a nice long 3 week visit.  I always find the first day after a long term influx of company to be disconcerting, not sure what to do and feel kinda lonely.  How bout you?

So today I was especially glad it is Mojo Monday because I could make a card, and that's always fun.  Specially since my sister was able to join me.  Here's today's sketch:

And my take on it:

I used various papers and then taped them together and trimmed them using a scalloped edge.  The "engaged" letters stickers from EK Success (got these across the border at WalMart - the ONLY thing I bought when I went for a day trip with my parents, and I was in WalMart for a good hour - what's wrong with me?  My Mr. had even given me some fun money)  The charm is from a bracelet I had that broke eons ago so I just snipped it with a cutter and I embellished one of the hearts with silver glitter.  The ribbon is recycled from a card the recipient sent ME a few days ago.  I thought it would be fun to send it back to her.

Back in a day or two with more iPhone photos and photos from our visit perhaps!

This week in iphone pics and a Freebie :)

Here are a few photos caught by my iphone this week:

glasses.jpg

Yup, uh huhn… I’ve been waiting for this day to come.  My first pair of glasses. Ever.  Well, other than some dollar store reading ones which I used for tatting.  That tatting thread is tiny don’t you know?  Only it seemed to be getting tinier and even a little fuzzy at times.  Or perhaps the lights in the house were failing.  Or…

I need glasses for reading and I need them for “distance” when driving too.  I wound up buying these online from clearlycontacts.ca.  Excellent service and had them to my door via courier within a week. And your first pair is FREE.  Really.  If you decide to try them, let me know, they have a referral rewards program and I’d love to be your “referrer”

swallow.jpg

I felt honoured to have held this beautiful little sparrow.  It flew into our front window and stunned itself.  I let it go after it had a few moments to recover.

Here is a small series of lupine photos – I culled these out of about 20 that I took upon the urging of my Mr. a few days ago when the conditions were perfect.

Notice the BIG FAT blobs of pollen Mr. Bee has collected on his legs!

Mojo 193 and More Iphone Foto Adventures!

Time once again for Mojo - and I just bet I get to do it at the same time as  my sister this week.  My take on it is very convoluted and experimental.  I decided to do both round and square at the same time.  And to make several pages, always wanted to try that.  I'm not sure if it's a success or not.  You can decide for me.  Sure did take a looooong time to make, in between vacuuming, laundry, dishes and working out.

I used a wordart from TLCreations and I embossed the black pattern with some black powder - not sure what it's called.  I did not realize unitl after that I should have put the parts of the card together and then cut the circle out all at one time, therefore some of the circles are not perfect.  Better luck next time. The sunshines are my own freebie from a few posts ago.

Inside the first page.  I drew the little swirlies.

Inside the second page - again, my own sunshine freebie and a little dollar store stamp on the left.  I like the idea I can write loads of good stuff in this card - almost more like a little letter story book.

Insided the last page - again, more writing space.  I pieced together coordinating bits of paper to make a cut out sun for the back page.

Ah yes, time to get a new paint brush to sweep the embossing powder away more accurately - though I think its ok on this fun and casual card.

Not sure if I would attempt this again, far too much work.  My head was swimming by the time I finished.

Here are some random Iphone Adventure Photos from the past two days:

Stopped on our run yesterday which took me and my Mr. behind the airport where they were having drag races...

Gettin' ready!

They are OFF!

Love the color of these.

Cherries are slow this year.

I have a few more photos but will post these later.  Must go visit with my Mother and Father in Law!  Thanks for visiting.
