Mojo 321 Card Challenge

I had a few cards to make up first thing Monday morning so I decided that I should match it with a Mojo Challenge.  So here we go.

Mojo 321 Card Challenge:

I chose the square option.  I’m afraid I’m not so good with round - they always roll away on me.  Winking smile

Here is my take on this challenge:

Supplies:

Cardstock - We R Memory Keepers

Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug

Designer Paper - sorry, can’t identify this scrap.

Scallop Cut - Silhouette Online Store

Stamp - Bo Bunny

Vinyl

Ribbon

I like to “personalize” a card with a name - it makes it all the more special, at least this is the feedback I get from the recipients.  This is where I fall in ♥ with vinyl.  Its pretty tiny work but my Cameo has no problems with that, I just can’t have much caffeine before I “weed” the letters out.   I thought the sparkly silver works well.

Especially when I paired it up with a sparkly ribbon and bow.

Family Challenge - Soot Stamping

Judy picked out this very cool technique for our latest family challenge:

She makes it look SO easy - haha!

Hmmm, I’ve invested time in the past to making my candles NOT spew forth ribbons of black soot. This challenge had me working hard to get that candle to billow extra soot.  What I learned is that if I held the glass jar on a great angle, allowing the flame to lick up the side then I was rewarded with enough lovely soot for this project.

SUPPLIES:

Candle

Fixative Spray

Stamps

Cardstock

Stick on Letters

I chose to use a few new stamps I treated myself to last weekend - a Lost and Found Acrylic of an old time camera

Family-Challenge-Sept-13---3

and an Imaginisce Acrylic stamp of… a sunshine - but I just used some of the “rays” to create the effect of a flash going off.

And added these Teeny Alphas letters by Glitz for the sentiment!

I don’t know about you but I’m clearly excited to hop on over to my sister Nina’s and sister in law Judy’s blogs to see what creative ways they came up with for this uber-cool technique.

Fun Feminine Birthday Card - vinyl project & link to a My Memories Giveaway

Are you getting the idea I’m addicted to vinyl?  Well… I AM!  Here is a pretty card I made recently.

Feminine-Birthday-Card-Vinyl_Barb-Derksen

Supplies:

Vinyl cut of the woman

Vinyl cut of the word “BIRTHDAY”

Various Stamps

Designer paper

Ribbon - Offray (WalMart)

Method:

This card just “fell together” for me.  As you can see most of the elements on this 4.25 x 5.5 inch card are just basic.  The specialness of this card lies in both the beautiful cut from a dingbat font of the woman and also the type of sparkly vinyl I used.

I am unable to provide you the actual cut file because this is a dingbat from a demo font - but you could go get it yourself and make your own cuts.  The font is called “Sewing Patterns” and you can find it HERE. As far as I can see you can use them for your own personal projects.

I traced, measured and made the cut file for this dingbat, then I made and “offset” to back her and draw attention to her on the card by raising her up with foam tape when putting the card together.

The lettering was a simple font and I once again cut it in some gorgeous black sparkled vinyl I have.

Please visit again in three days as I have another project - similar but even more “wow”!!!

If you’re into digital scrapbooking, or if you might like to try it then I urge you to visit my friend Janice and enter to win a download for My Memories this fun and useful software.  Janice gives a very honest post on this software, comparing it to her favourite, which is, of course, Photoshop. (but Photoshop is a high end product, this is much simpler, though still powerful.  I like how she played around in the program to create some personal projects to show you how it works!
