So we are heading south from Steamboat Rock State Park in Washington State, USA. Doesn’t that road just beckon you to the beyond?
Our next stop – Sun-Lakes/Dry Falls State Park.
It’s a stunning vista over this area carved by glaciers. Its hard to get a complete picture of the vastness of this area, nor the depth of the drop here down to those lakes.

So today we will set off on the next leg of our little vacation weekend. On Saturday morning we spent a leisurely morning (that means reading in bed for me) before we headed our little “Frisky” the Fiat toward the south.
As you can see, it wasn’t a particularly sunny day, nor was it wet, either. Somehow the roads down here always seem like a long drawn out ribbon and I like how they wend past all of the beautiful cliffs and rock formations.
In some places it was so arresting, the pale gold grasses waving against a turquoise blue water.
There are many Public Fishing pullouts along the highways in Washington State – something we rarely see here in BC. I mean if there are fishing spots up here it seems its like you have to look it up, while there in the USA they post actual signs saying “Public Fishing” so you know its ok to fish there. Granted some of these places require a Discover Pass.
Doesn’t that fish kinda make you think of something prehistoric? I don’t know what kind it was – any guesses?
So, I’m cheating a bit here because I’m going to post just a few pics here each day of our recent trip across the USA border to one of our favorite places: Steamboat Rock State Park in Washington State, USA. Yesterday I posted photos of the cabin, once we got settled on the Friday night, we went for a little walk in the early evening. The weather was cloudy but not rainy.
This is the view from a location just north of the campsite, looking down onto the shores from up on some rock. Unfortunately, I did not make it to the very top of Steamboat Rock this trip as we had intended to do so on the Sunday, early, but that day dawned rainy, wet and gloomy.
Ah and there my fine-looking Mr awaiting me. He’s a rock-hopper and I’m not quite such one. If he had his way we would have a home backed up against a climbing wall, I’m sure.
Even a pristine sand-dune for us to enjoy. I know this is a short post but I’m going to reserve the next photos for tomorrow’s post.

I’m going to post a couple of photos each day for the next few days from our weekend away down to Steamboat Rock. Just a few each day as I have many. Could get overwhelming here!
That, of course, is Steamboat Rock. As you can see, it is shaped like a steamboat. And this large and beautiful landmark is within Steamboat Rock State Park in Washington State, USA. We are so lucky to live so close to the border that we have access to places like this.
My dashing Mr and I have had many years of skipping off to this luscious locale – each time we go it evokes precious memories. This time we were fortunate to take a cabin, because really they are not rentable on the “shoulder” season – but we were fortunate that one was opened to us on an “emergency” basis.

And just how CUTE is this? These are some fun Easter carrots you can make for place settings for your family Easter table.
INSTRUCTIONS:
These are super simple to make. Just cut a rectangle out of designer paper 8 inches long by 6 inches wide. You will get two “tubes” out of one 12 x 12 sheet of designer paper. Run double sided tape (or glue) on the outside of one of the the long sides of the paper, then roll it into a tube.
Flatten one end, with the seam in the middle on the back. Tuck some double sided tape inside to seal, or glue. I used my crimper to make a wavy edge on it.
Now make sure you’ve cut however many green carrot tops out of cardstock using the FREE file provided below.
Next, fill your “carrot” with treats (chocolate eggs, jelly beans) and when it’s full then flatten the OPPOSITE sides to the ones at the bottom. The ‘tube’ will turn into a wedge or “carrot” shape naturally. Now use either double sided tape or glue and, inserting the end of the carrot top in, seal this end. You now have your carrot.
But finally, find some bright pretty ribbon, tie a bow and glue it onto the top. Voila!

A Fun Project
Turning THIS:
I wish I’d taken a photo of this before I snipped it up into bits… this is was a t-shirt I bought at the thrift store. I kept looking at it thinking I wanted it. I caved in and bought and kept trying it on over the next few days and finally thought, no, its “not me”. So I went to put it back in the box destined to go back to the thrift store, but my hand wouldn’t let me. That night I couldn’t get to sleep for thinking of what I wanted with that t-shirt and it finally came to me. And this is the result!
A lot of watered down glue, tissue paper, glitter, gems, sequins, Tim Holtz alcohol inks and stamps and this is what my creation is made of. I love it, it was very freeing. I made several of these canvases, a few I’ve already given as gifts and need to recall them so I can take proper photos of and share them here. This canvas was given as a draw prize at my OCC Women’s Fellowship Coffee, held at McKia’s (in the Best Western) at 1:00 each Thursday here in Osoyoos. You’re all welcome to join us!

Without any further adeau, here is an Easter FREEBIE for YOU!
It’s got its own little picture window (you can cut and paste a bit of plastic there or leave it open whichever you wish. There is a little “shelf” inside with a hole where you can put an Easter Egg.
I used a real, hard boiled egg, and it could have been either medium size or large, but if you used a smaller candy egg you might just tuck some packing shredded paper under the shelf to prop it up. I hope you enjoy!
This project cuts out of a single sheet of 12 x 12 paper with plenty of space left to make extra elements to glue on your box.
I’ve pulled off not one but TWO card challenges in the past few days despite being extremely busy. Here we go:
I used a fun 6 x 6 paper from Basic Grey “Hey Boy” and I added a silvery airplane I traced and modified and cut out of shiny vinyl.. Next I added some velum cut into cloudshapes and I used some silver daubers and then added some water and pearlescent paint and voila it crackled the clouds to look 3d. I lined them with a marker so they were more visible. Next I layered up the Stamped Sentiment by Paper Smooches and tied the plane together with it with some bakers twine.
The Card Concept #30 “Thinking of YOU”
I used sheet of 6 x 6 from Kristin Cronin Barrow’s Blank Canvas. I stamped using a Hero Arts sentiment and washed over the middle part with Orange Tom Bow.
I’ve had these sweet paper flowers around for a while – I made them myself and kind of forgot them in a drawer. I hand cut the leaves.

Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge – B is for…
Obviously I’ve chosen to go along with the “B is for BIRD” idea as I’ve been wanting to use this stamp set for a while. I thought I’d just keep it simple.
Supplies:
