365 Photo of the Day

Wow, I can hardly believe I’ve kept up my Photo of the Day for two entire months.  It does cause me to keep my lens in the front of my mind’s eye every day! 

I love buttons.  I have jars of them on display, sorted.  At one time (this will give you a chuckle) I wanted to get a visual of my efforts in doing sit-ups, and I had this (exausting and way cool at the time) idea that every time I’d do 10 sit-ups I’d sew a button on this plain blanket.  Mind you, I was doing several sets of sit-ups a day and eventually the blanket got very very heavy and I got exhausted.  It did look pretty cool though.  I know that blanket is haunting a corner of a closet somewhere. 

“Button your lip” “Cute as a button” “Stay buttoned down” – somehow just saying the word makes me feel warm and secure.

I managed to squeak in another card today – gotta love any challenge that has “casual” in it’s title… I chose to take up the challenge from Casual Friday’s #137 challenge inviting us to:

CFC137: Using spring colors, create a music themed project and keep it Clean And Simple.

So here I go:

 

I’m sorry to say I don’t see any identification on the designer paper I chose – but in my mind these bright colors do fit into a “spring” theme.  This sentiment is from My Favorite Things.  Music backdrop to the sentiment is a cut I created using my Silhouette Designer Edition Software and I’d like to share it with YOU!

Casual Fridays Challenge 132 Card

Ha, the cards just keep coming!  If my legs would hold me up I think I’d stay up the entire night and build little creations but alas, my “dawgs” is tired.  Without further ado:

Casual Fridays Challenge 132:

CFC132:  What a Catch

Create a Guy card with the following catch...you can't use kraft as a color at all, AND you have to include some sort of ribbon.

So I made -

This is simple - well as simple as I can make things.  I tend to get all cluttery so this was a stretch.  Loved this paper - My Mind’s Eye from the “Dolled Up” 6 x 6 paper pad. Made it easy to do a masculine theme.  I mitred a little paper to make a “frame” and the tack holding the sentiment on is actually a blob of glitter glue from my glue gun.  It came together fast, I must admit.

Today’s 1 small thing IS really small…

I am constantly amazed at how wonderful my iphone takes pictures of the teensiest of subjects.  I caught this little lady(bug) dining out on tiny aphids. 

I like what this vintage book “Handbook of Nature Study” by Anna Botsford Comstock said about the Ladybird:

“The little black legs, while quite efficient because they can move so rapidly, are not the ladybird’s only means of locomotion; she is a good flier and has a long pair of dark wings which she folds crosswise under her wing covers.  It is comical to see her pull up her wings, as a lady tucks up a long petticoat; and sometimes ladybird is rather slovenly about it and runs around with the tips of her wings hanging out behind, quite untidily.”

CAS-ual Fridays No. 127 Challenge Card

Its a beautiful sunny day here today and I’m treating myself to a creative moment before my Mr bundles me up and makes me go for a good run outside in the snow and sun. 

CAS-ual Fridays No. 127 Challenge Card:

CFC127: Create a Clean And Simple project with some sort of element that extends past the edge.

And so I made:

I secretly chose to use some sequins today.  They keep winking at me from my supplies closet.  I used my Tombow markers to color in the jar and gold embossing powder for the lid and the heart on the jar.  The final touch was a bit of twine.

See?  This will wink at someone special someday soon
